Stop the Dropout ~ Accessibility Using Technology ITGS

Updated: Dec 11, 2018

Jack Tai (2018) suggested that one of the major factors that contribute to late graduation and dropouts is missing classes. Many students have difficulty passing their classes because they are unable to obtain essential course material. A lot of students may be preoccupied with extracurricular activities, but others miss classes because they have to work shifts during odd hours to pay the bills.

There need to be mechanisms in place to help students get access to class notes, study material and mentorship online when they are unable to be in class in person. EdTech entrepreneurs can use their platforms to offer video tutorials on mobile-friendly platforms, quick quizzes to practice on the go and free tools in the form of how-to blogs or real-time chat options with mentors.

Answer theses ITGS IB Style Exam Questions:

  1. Identify two pieces of hardware one would need to create a video tutorial. (2 marks)

  2. Identify equipment needed for a student to access video tutorials. (2 marks)

  3. Consider a student that using the platforms that offer video tutorials, quick quizzes, how-to blogs and real-time chat options for a course and analyse the impact on the students if they had limited internet access. (6 marks)
